At first glance, making a punching bag with your own hands is not difficult, just find a strong fabric, sew a bag and fill it. But this is not the case. There are rules for each stage of work.
If there is a need to work out the punches at home, you can make a punching bag with your own hands. First you need to prepare the materials and tools that you will need during work.
How to choose fabric and filling?
To make a punching bag, you will need a rather large piece of dense fabric, since it must be folded in several layers. The best choice is natural leather or leatherette. If it is not possible to find this material, you can take a tarp. If it is he who is used, you need to work out the blows with gloves, since there is a high probability of damaging the skin of the hands. With a leather or leatherette pear, you can train with your bare hands.
River sand or well-dried sawdust can be used as a filler. In the first case, the projectile will turn out to be heavy, in the second - light. However, a sawdust pear can be made heavier by using small, rounded stones as an inner layer. Instead of sand, you can take rice. But the best of all fillers is crumb rubber.
In addition to these materials, you will need steel wire and a strong chain. Of the tools, you will need scissors, a nylon thread, a needle, pliers, and a measuring tape.
Stages of making a punching bag
The boxing equipment can be made in the form of a pear or a cylinder. In any case, it should have a bottom, so the first thing to do is to determine the diameter and height of the product. Further, a circle is cut out of leather or tarpaulin and this part is duplicated, since the bottom should be double.
Then, using a measuring tape, measure the circumference, leave allowances for the seams (5-10 cm). This figure will determine the length of the blade. 2-3 cm are added to the desired height of the projectile and the dimensions of the canvas are obtained, which will represent its lateral sides.
Then, rectangles of the desired size are cut out of the fabric. It is enough to have 2-3 layers, but you can do more. The parts are laid one on top of the other and seams are made on a sewing machine at a distance of 1-2 cm from the edges. Next, the bottom is attached, then the side is sewn up along the height of the projectile. You should get a bag in the form of a cylinder from several layers of fabric. Such material cannot always be sewn on a sewing machine, so some of the work will have to be done manually with a needle, crochet hook and strong thread.
Next, proceed to stuffing the pear with the selected filler. There should be enough to leave 15 = 20 cm of free space up to the top. After that, a fastener is made, with the help of which the projectile will be suspended: the top of the cylinder is pulled together with steel wire, from which a small ring is formed. A durable (preferably mountaineering) carbine is attached to it. In the right place of the room, a chain is attached to the ceiling and the finished boxing equipment is suspended.
