It is necessary

  • - plastic scraper;
  • - solvent (turpentine);
  • - ointment remover;
  • - clean rags.

Instructions

Step 1

How to remove ski wax from a sliding surface depends on the type of ski and the lubricant used. Determine which skis you will be removing grease from - from wood or plastic, since there are different types of special washes for them. The most widespread today are skis with a plastic coating, for lubrication of which both traditional ski ointment and all kinds of paraffins can be used.

Step 2

Prepare the necessary tools and materials. You will need a plastic scraper, turpentine, a soft, clean cloth, and special ointment removers in the form of an aerosol or paste. If possible, use a ski rack or vise.

Step 3

Take one ski and fix it in the machine with the sliding surface up. A regular bench vise or a table fitted with a clamp will do. In the absence of such devices, you will have to hold the ski, resting it, for example, with the "heel" in the joint between the floor and the wall.

Step 4

Use a special aerosol or paste solvent (remover) to remove the old ointment. Make sure the wash is suitable for the type of ski surface. Apply the product to the sliding surface, following the instructions for use. After applying the solvent, wait 2-3 minutes before using the scraper.

Step 5

Using a special plastic scraper, begin to remove the remaining grease from the sliding surface. In this case, it is recommended to make careful movements from the front of the ski to the back. For convenience, conditionally divide the entire surface to be treated into three or four sections, passing each of them sequentially. Clean the particles of the ointment (paraffin) to be removed on the surface with a cloth. This method will remove old ointment and wax.

Step 6

After machining, take a clean rag, moisten it with turpentine and wipe the sliding surface with pressure, removing the remaining grease. Repeat the procedure two to three times if necessary.

Step 7

Do the same with the second ski. After complete treatment, thoroughly wipe the ski surface with a dry cloth. Your inventory is now ready to receive the new grease appropriate for the weather.
