There are many interesting events in the world that attract thousands and thousands of people. As a rule, Russians usually join already existing movements, holidays, and undertakings, so it is especially pleasant that the very concept of a cycling night originated in Russia and is gradually spreading all over the world. Massive night bike rides take place not only in Moscow, but also in New York and Rome, it is planned to hold an action in London and Florence.

Night bike rides around the city were born seven years ago, the number of their participants steadily increased each time and in 2012 amounted to five thousand people. The Moscow cycling night attracts not only Russians, but also fans of cycling and cycling tourism from other countries. The action is supported by the Moscow authorities; in recent years it has become one of the most significant cultural events.

In 2012, the cycling night was called "Golden West", as the participants of the race explored the western part of the city. The start was given on the site in front of the Borodino Panorama Museum. On the route, five planned stops were envisaged, the participants of the run examined the Church of the Intercession in Fili, the Gorbunov House of Culture, Naryshkin's estate, Joseph Stalin's dacha in Kuntsevo, the main entrance to the Mosfilm film studio. The stops lasted 10-15 minutes, during which the cyclists were told about Moscow's sights.

During the bike ride, the protesters could listen to the Mayak radio station, which broadcast a special excursion program. Artists, historians, architects and critics spoke about Moscow. In particular, one could hear directors Eldar Ryazanov, Sergei Romanyuk, Alexander Frolov, director of the Museum of Cinema Naum Kleiman, architect Sergei Skuratov, head of the Moscow City Heritage Site Alexander Kibovsky and other storytellers. Since there were many foreigners among the cyclists, simultaneous translation was organized for them.

It became possible to gather such a large number of participants thanks to the Internet. To participate in the action, it was enough to leave an application on the website of the organizers of the project. There, future participants of the action could get acquainted with a small list of what they will need during the bike ride. In particular, it was necessary to have an FM radio with headphones. Since the Moscow cycling night is very popular, you can count on it to take place next year as well.
