Hockey is a spectacular ice hockey game that attracts millions of fans around the world. At first glance, it might appear that the players are randomly driving around the court trying to shoot the puck. In fact, everything is much more complicated. The coach's task is to teach each athlete to perform a number of essential functions on the ice.

Instructions

Step 1

Start with general physical fitness. Now practically in no sport it is impossible to progress without colossal strength and endurance. For hockey, this has always been and remains relevant. Preparation should include cross-country running, football, gym, swimming. Write out a workout plan for the week and month ahead. Players shouldn't just drive on ice all day. Your routine should include classes in the gym (3 times a week), cross-country (2 times), football and swimming (1 time). This will be quite enough for the development of endurance and physical strength.

Step 2

Make your players skate around the rink. For hockey players, speed skating training is very important, since they travel more than one kilometer per match. Especially beginners need to ride a lot at high speed around the rink. Make sure that each player drives 15-20 minutes before the main activity.

Step 3

Teach players to quickly accelerate and catch up with the puck. After the hockey players have rolled and flexed their muscles, do the following exercise. Hit the puck and tell one of your charges to pick it up by accelerating. Have all players complete this task. Then just place a few pucks on one line and, on command, tell a few hockey players to get to the puck and take possession of it. You can even pick up and record the stopwatch readings. Sprint training is very important for players, so complete these tasks every training session.

Step 4

Train athletes in club handling and dribbling. Once the hockey players are able to skate quickly and confidently on the ice, teach them how to swing the hockey stick. Place 5-8 flags (cones) along the entire length of the ice. Now every hockey player must slowly move the puck through these obstacles, being careful not to hit them and not let the puck out from under the stick. Make sure everyone repeats this exercise at least 10 times. Tell your charges to gradually increase the speed of the passage. Soon they will be able to learn excellent dribbling.

Step 5

Hone your ice wrestling skills. Now you can arrange mini-matches in order to consolidate the acquired skills and teach the players to fight for the puck in real situations. Teach a tough fight for space. Work separately with the defenders and the goalkeeper. The former should skate well in reverse, the latter should reflect shots from any situation. Reinforce all of these skills in official club-to-club games.
