Domagoj Vida is a footballer from Croatia. His position is protector.
Born on the 29th arel in 1989 in a town called Osijek, where he began his football career in 2003 in the children's and youth team at the Osijek club and after 3 years successfully established himself in its main team.
Parents: Rudyka and Zelka Vida, as well as the older brother of Hrvoe. His father also played football professionally and was a striker in the Osijek and Belisce clubs. It was at the suggestion of his father that he began to play football from the age of seven at the school of the Unity Donja Mikhoilach club.
Club career
Thanks to his successful performances, he was hailed by members of European football clubs. And with the assistance of his parents in the summer of 2010, he began playing for Bayer 04 (a German football club from the city of Leverkusen, playing in the Bundesliga (German Football Premier League)). But he did not succeed in making his way to the main team.
In the summer of 2011, Vida returned to the Croatian championship, this time as part of Dinamo Zagrab. The 2011-2012 football season was more than successful for Domagoj, as a result of which he became the champion and winner of the Croatian Cup.
In the winter of 2013, Vida signed a five-year contract with Dynamo Kiev. He played well with Dynamo. And in 2015 he brought the team a victory in the Ukrainian championship. For the first time in 6 years and the 14th time in history. In the 2016-2017 season, he became the vice-champion and finalist of the Ukrainian Cup.
In the winter of 2017, Domagoy left the Kiev club and officially became a player of the Turkish "Besiktas". In February 2018, Vida made his debut in the match against the Turkish Antalyaspor, which became victorious for his club.
National team career
Domagoj was involved in the youth and youth national teams of Croatia. He made his debut on 23 May 2010 in a friendly against Wales, where he replaced Darijo Srna in the 75th minute of the match. His appearance did not affect the result of the match, nevertheless, the Croatian national team won this match with a score of 2: 0.
In 2012 he took part in the qualifying matches for the European Championship. May 29, 2012 was included in the main team. The football player's debut and only match at Euro was the game against the Spanish national team, in which the Croats could not score and lost with a score of 0: 1.
Two years later, he was in the application for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, but he never entered the field.
In 2018 he was included in the main squad, where he showed a very high level of play and made Vidu the desired transfer target for a number of English clubs. Everton, Liverpool, West Ham want to get the player. Domagoi played 6 matches at the 2018 World Cup, scored 1 goal and made 1 assist - just in the final match. Having reached the final, the Croatian national team set their own personal best.
Scandalous facts
- On September 25, 2012, Domagoj Vida was fined a record $ 129,000 (€ 100,000) by Dinamo Zagreb for opening a can of beer on the team's bus.
- On November 4, 2016, he was stopped by Kiev patrolmen for drunk driving.
- After the team returned from the 2018 World Cup, Domaga Vida was unbalanced and nearly fell off the roof of the bus during a festive ceremony with the fans, but he was restrained by goalkeeper Daniel Subasic, who was sitting next to him.
