The history of Russian hockey knows many outstanding athletes who shone on the ice rinks of the strongest league in the world. Some of them have already been honored to be in the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. Such honors were given to players at the end of their hockey career. That is why there is no name for Alexander Ovechkin among Russian hockey players in the Toronto gym.

Alexander, nicknamed "The Great" in the NHL, in his 11th season in the NHL was able to reach the goal line, which has not yet obeyed any of the Russian legionnaires in the NHL. On January 10, 2016, Alexander Ovechkin scored his 500th goal against the Ottawa Senators in his NHL career in the regular season. In the same match, Alexander “exchanged” the sixth hundred - making a double. Thus, Alexander Ovechkin at the time of the middle of the 2015-2016 season managed to score 501 times in 802 matches.

For a long time, Sergei Fedorov, who spent 20 seasons in the NHL (1248 games in the regular season), was the record holder for goals scored in the NHL among Russian players. Sergei, recently inducted into the hockey hall of fame, managed to score 483 times. Ovechkin needed fewer games to break Fedorov's record for goals, but Alexander is still inferior to the eminent veteran in the goal + pass system.

Alexander Ovechkin is still continuing his hockey career, so a red light will come on behind the opponent's goal more than once after scored goals. It is noteworthy that the milestone of 500 goals in the NHL will not be beaten very soon by domestic legionnaires. Outstanding strikers of the 90s have already finished their careers (Mogilny, Bure). Ilya Kovalchuk, apparently, will no longer play in the NHL. All of these forwards have crossed the 400-goal line, but this is significantly inferior to Ovechkin's record. It is no coincidence that Alexander is considered the best forward in world hockey at the moment.

We can already talk about the outstanding career of Alexander Ovechkin, which is missing only the Stanley Cup and the title of Olympic champion. However, Russian fans hope that these titles will be conquered by Alexander as part of their club and our national team.
