Instructions

Step 1

Decide on the type of gloves. They can be amateur, training, professional, combat, or shell. There are also gloves for aerobics. The preferred type of gloves depends on what you are going to be doing. In amateurs, you must not use strong blows, otherwise there is a risk of breaking your thumb. In general, large gloves are recommended for amateurs.

Professional gloves are not safe, and the blows you use in them can injure your opponent. Nevertheless, hands are always safe in them, regardless of the force of the blow. Combat gloves provide higher protection. They have a white spot to make it easier for the judges to count the points. Training gloves protect hands very well. You can work with them both on the apparatus and train in sparring. Shell gloves provide the best protection for your hands and are the toughest. Aerobic gloves cannot be used to fight, they are not intended for this.

Step 2

The material and filler are very important. Gloves are made of genuine leather or leatherette. Leather ones allow the hands to breathe, they are more durable. Substitute gloves are cheaper. It is better to choose a filler professional: it is foam rubber, synthetic foam fillers, polyurethane foam. Non-professional filler is cotton wool. It falls off over time, and the gloves become unsafe.

Step 3

Choose the right weight and size for your gloves. Weight depends on the weight of the boxer himself. Children under 7 years old are advised to weigh 4 ounces, from 7 to 10 years old - 6 ounces, 11-13 years old and women are advised to weigh 8019 ounces, and men - from 12 to 18 ounces, depending on their weight. The size should fit the palm of your hand. Small gloves are usually taken for children, medium gloves are suitable for women, and large gloves are suitable for men.

Step 4

Notice if there is a cuff. The cuff is the part of the glove that secures the hand and protects it. Cuffed gloves not only fit tighter, they also give you better control over your impact. The position of the thumb is also very important. The cuff closure can be made in the form of Velcro or lacing. The lacing keeps your hand in place better, but you won't be able to put on those gloves yourself. Velcro gloves are usually bought for training.
