Snowboarding, one of the extreme winter sports, is now very popular among both young people and older people. And this is not surprising, because snowboarding on snowy expanses gives a feeling of freedom, speed and ease. It's just a shame that the snowboarding season does not last all year round, but only a few months - while the snow lies. With the arrival of the first thaws, you will have to forget about your favorite board until next year. But before you send your snowboard for summer storage, you need to carefully prepare it.
Instructions
Step 1
To start preparing your snowboard for storage, you need to clean all of its parts from dirt. Particular attention should be paid to the sliding surface. You can wash it with water and a hard sponge, or with a special product bought in a store. After cleaning, wipe the snowboard with a dry cloth.
Step 2
Then detach the fasteners. For convenience, for next winter, it is better to write down all the parameters (angles, indents, etc.) of the installation of the mounts, then you will not have to suffer by selecting them again.
Step 3
Now you can start the main part of preparing your snowboard for summer storage - wax conservation. The process is not complicated, but it requires special care, because it depends on how well your board will last until the next season. For preserving a snowboard, both paraffin wax, which was taken to lubricate a snowboard for riding, and wax of an ordinary candle are suitable. First, prepare your workplace: cover the floor with newspapers (so as not to stain with wax), place the snowboard on two stools, sliding surface up. You will also need an iron for preservation. Better to take the one that you do not mind spoiling. Then heat the iron to a temperature where the wax melts but does not burn. Apply paraffin wax to the sliding surface of the snowboard and distribute evenly with an iron. It is necessary to cover the entire sliding surface of the snowboard.
Step 4
Now choose a suitable place to store your snowboard in summer. Avoid places where direct sunlight will fall on the board (for example, a balcony), because in this case, it may fade and dry out. It is better to choose a horizontal position for storing the snowboard in order to avoid deformation. For the same reason, you should not stack any items on top of the board.
Step 5
After the snowboard is ready for storage, do not forget to take care of the bindings and boots. They must be washed thoroughly, and the textile parts must be washed. After drying, stuff the boots with newspapers and place them in the box with the fasteners. For storage, a regular closet or pantry is suitable, but not a balcony or basement. If you follow these rules, your snowboard and equipment will easily survive the hot summer and will look like new by the next season!
