Many sports were invented in Medieval England, and cricket is one of the oldest played to this day.
Before it was played in various parts of the world, this sport was the entertainment of the English noble sirs. King Edward II of England was a fan of this game. The British began to play en masse in the 16th century. The first match took place in 1598. In the 17th century, even village boys began to play the game. The first professional players also appeared. From a popular game, cricket has turned into a sport. Thanks to the expansion of the British crown, they learned about him in all the colonies. He especially took root in India. Indian rulers encouraged the development of sports to please the British. Since then, the Indians have been one of the main rivals of the British.
In 1939, a match took place between the English team and the Indian team. It lasted several days, with breaks for rain and Sunday. The British attended church on Sundays. The match was only over because England needed to sail home. The winner was never determined.
Cricket is played on an elliptical court. Use a flat bat and ball. The game has 42 rules and rather strict regulations for the participation of national teams in World League matches. A distinction is made between level 1 cricket, in which the duration of the match is strictly limited in time, and cricket with limited overs. The latter appeared relatively recently, and the match, according to the rules, is limited to 50 or 20 overs. They cannot last for several days.
There are few countries that have membership in the international cricket conference, mostly these countries are former British colonies. India is one of the few modern developing countries where cricket is much more popular than football. Broadcasts of the final matches of the national cup are sold for several million dollars. Team players are active in commercials and their faces appear on television almost as often as the faces of Bollywood actors. Success in international tournaments brought the citizens of the country the belief that they can surpass the ancestors of the game, which means at least in some ways to be more successful than the former metropolis.
Women joined the sport much later. It was only at the end of the 19th century that the first official match took place. The rules are no different from men's cricket. In 1973, the world women's cricket championship was held. The six-time world champions in this sport are Australian athletes.
