Saransk is the capital of the Republic of Mordovia and its largest city. In it, as well as in other ten cities of Russia in 2018, matches of the FIFA World Cup among national teams will be held.
It is no coincidence that Saransk was included in the list of cities in which the 2018 World Cup matches will take place next summer. This city has a very rich sports history. This is where many Olympic champions come from in a wide variety of sports, including gymnastics, race walking, and so on.
And there is also a football club in Saransk Mordovia, which recently played in the Premier League of the Russian Championship. Now the funding of the team has decreased slightly, but the authorities promise to return the club to the highest level immediately after the end of the World Cup.
All conditions have been created for its holding in the city. In particular, a new stadium "Mordovia Arena" with a capacity of 45,000 spectators was built. After the tournament, some of the stands will be dismantled and the number of seats in the stands will be somewhat reduced to 30,000.
Matches to be held in Saransk
1. On June 16 on Saturday at 19:00 teams from Peru and Denmark will enter the field. The Peru national team has not participated in such tournaments for a very long time and a positive result should be expected from it. Moreover, one of the leaders of the Moscow Lokomotiv Jefferson Farfan plays for the Peruvians.
2. On Tuesday June 19 at 18:00 a meeting between Colombia and Japan will take place. South Americans show a more meaningful game, but Asians are also a strong middle peasant.
3. On Monday 25 June at 21:00 the national teams of Iran and Portugal will play. European champions should deal with the task of getting out of the group without any problems.
4. On Thursday 28 June at 21:00 Panama and Tunisia teams will enter the Mordovia Arena field. The North Americans initially appear to be the main outsiders of the tournament.
Fans from Mordovia should be very happy that they will host the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Saransk. Therefore, the attendance is expected to be at the highest level.
