There are two main types of twine - longitudinal and transverse. However, the most trained athletes can demonstrate the royal split, which requires not only flexibility, but also static strength.
Sitting on the twine is the dream of many teenagers and adults involved in sports. Unfortunately, not everyone has the zeal to make their dreams come true. Others lack flexibility. According to fitness and Pilates instructors, splits can be done at any age. The main thing is to follow the training regimen and perform the exercises correctly.
Longitudinal twine
Longitudinal twine is the simplest of all available. It implies a pose on the floor with one leg extended forward and the other back. In this case, the transverse twine can be on the right or left leg. If you draw an imaginary line from the heel of one leg to the other, you get a straight line. With such a twine, the gluteus maximus muscle, the back of the thigh and the hamstring should be well stretched. Almost everyone who practices martial arts can sit on a longitudinal split, since striking involves raising the legs above the head.
Transverse twine
As practice shows, if a person sits on a transverse twine, then it will not be difficult for him to sit on a longitudinal twine. The famous Hollywood actor Jacques-Claude Van Damme often demonstrates the transverse split in his films. The legs are spread apart, and the body can go down or be in a straight position.
For the cross twine, you need to have elastic groin muscles, the back of the thigh and buttocks. In addition, the flexible hamstrings take the strain off the groin muscles, which is very important. With a transverse twine, the hip joints are worked out. It is useful for people of all ages.
Royal twine
If we turn to the same Van Damme, who in his 52 years showed excellent stretching during the filming of a commercial for the Volvo concern, then it was he who made the royal twine popular.
This type of twine involves a transverse twine, but performed on two supports, on which the feet are located.
The rest of the body remains overhang. To sit on the royal twine, you need not only elastic muscles and flexible ligaments. Muscle static strength is also needed. This is already aerobatics, requiring an athlete to feel his body.
A special diet and yogic breathing helps to sit on the twine, when inhalation and exhalation are made through the larynx. Such breathing warms up the internal organs and muscles.
People between the ages of 20 and 45 can sit on a longitudinal split in two months without injuring their muscles.
