Step 1

If you are not a professional figure skater, you do not have an experienced coach who can help you avoid injury, it will be very difficult to master the rotation. Do not start such experiments if you still feel insecure on the ice, feel difficulties with turns, braking and balance on skates. Spinning is a trick for experienced athletes.

Step 2

The first step in mastering rotation is to move in place. Standing straight on the skates, relax and bring your arms to your chest. Lean on the edge of your right skate and bend your leg slightly. Push off with your left foot smoothly, without force. You will begin to rotate to the right, while slowly straightening your legs as you turn. Try to keep your balance. As you master the rotation, increase your speed by pushing off with more force. It is advisable to have someone backing you up during your workouts as it will be most difficult to keep the rotation on one axis. If you are "carried away" to the side, have a friend catch you.

Step 3

Once you have mastered the rotation in place, and you do not experience discomfort and dizziness, start mastering the pirouettes. A pirouette is a rotation in which the important elements are entering and exiting the pirouette. The forward approach to the pirouette is fast and energetic. Pushing off with your right foot, bend your left and move to the left, describing a semicircle on the ice. Being in the “swallow” position with your right leg extended and your arms spread apart for balance, direct your movement with your extended leg, “twisting” yourself to the left. When you begin to rotate, straighten your supporting leg. Pull your right leg back, keeping the "swallow". Do not accelerate yourself, let the rotation happen by inertia. When the speed of movement decreases, shift your body weight slightly forward to get out of the pirouette - slowly sliding forward, slightly to the left.

Step 4

The rear pirouette is somewhat more difficult to master. Moving along the amplitude of the semicircle, keep yourself as if in a straight pirouette, however, having rolled a little on one leg, step onto the other, directing yourself to the left. So you will start to "spin" even in acceleration. Decrease the diameter of the circle by moving towards the center of the circle on your right leg. Guide your movement with the extended left leg, being in the "swallow". The spinning starts from the back. Raise your arms to the sides to maintain balance. Spin on your right foot, after spinning, exit the pirouette to the left.
