Step 1
Try side busting on ice. And if one or both feet slip, then it's time to sharpen the skates. Also pay attention to whether the legs are parting during the skating course, and if so, the sharpness of the skates is no longer in very good condition.
Step 2
Pay attention to how the kicks are done while rolling. If they also show signs of slippage, then the sharpening has become dumber.
Step 3
Perform a turn or turn on ice and make sure the blades follow the path of your leg movements and do not break off. If failures occur, then the skates are not sharpened in the best way. If they do not exist and the turns are performed smoothly, then there is no need for sharpening.
Step 4
Run the tip of your fingernail across the blades on your skates. If scratches remain on the nail, then the sharpening on the skates is good.
Step 5
Look at the blades of the skates in front If the contour of the blade is perfectly straight and forms the shape of the letter "P", then you should sharpen the blades of the skates, and if you find a groove that resembles the letter "V" or "U", then sharpening is not required for now. Also make sure that the levels of the outer and inner ribs are the same throughout the length of the skate blades.
Step 6
Check skate sharpening in the traditional way, like checking if a knife is sharpened in the kitchen - touch it with your fingers. The edges of the blade should be sharp, no matter whether they are straight or grooved. It is worth noting that straight sharpening is much less common, but still there is a place to be.
