When choosing skates, many buyers are faced with the problem of determining the right size. Unfortunately, it is impossible to give specific recommendations in this matter, since much depends on the skates and their purpose. But there is one rule: the skates should fit snugly around the leg, but not pinch it. In a word, the leg should be comfortable.
It is necessary
- - paper;
- - centimeter;
- - ruler;
- - a pen or pencil.
Instructions
Step 1
Start by determining your shoe size. This is easy to do. Remember how as a child your mother put you on a piece of paper and outlined your leg with a pen? Do the same, only it is advisable to circle both legs, since they can be different in size and better orientate themselves on a large leg. Then take a ruler and measure from your heel to your thumb.
Step 2
The resulting value must be divided by 2/3. For example, the length of the track is 26 cm, therefore (26x3) / 2 = 39. This value will be the size of the foot.
Step 3
However, it is important to remember that in this way the size of Russian-made shoes is calculated. If you want to buy foreign-made skates, it is important to remember that, for example, English shoemakers measure the size of the foot in inches. For the convenience of buyers, all major sporting goods stores have a special table of correspondences between the sizes of various numbering systems.
Step 4
Do not forget that skates, like any footwear, should be suitable not only in size, but also in leg fullness. In the English system, the completeness of the shoe is indicated by the letters of the Latin alphabet from A to F, small sizes are designated 2A – 6A, large - 2F – 6F. There are also other systems for designating the completeness of shoes, for example, WWW, WW, W, M, S, SS, SSS. In order not to get confused in these definitions, it is enough to refer to the corresponding table in the store. If there is none, you can ask the seller.
Step 5
Some companies that produce skates use their own, different from the generally accepted, system for measuring the fullness of shoes. For example, when buying Riedell boots, you need to measure the diameter of the leg at the widest point of the foot. The resulting number of centimeters must be divided by 2, 54 in order to convert to inches.
Step 6
The fullness of GAM boots is measured by the footprint you drew to determine your foot size. Using a ruler, you need to determine the distance at the widest point of the foot - approximately in the same place as when measuring fullness for Riedell boots, only on a plane.
