“Capello is a top coach who delivers results. There are not so many such mentors in the world,”Valery Karpin, general director of Spartak Moscow, commented on the choice of a new coach. 66-year-old Italian Fabio Capello is truly considered one of the best and most respected football coaches in the world. Capello has long coached only clubs. Among them were such famous ones as Real, Milan, Juventus, Roma. In 2007, he headed the England national team, where he worked for 5 years, until Euro 2012. Capello decided to leave his post in protest after a conflict with the country's football association when John Terry was accused of racism and stripped of the captain's armband.

According to Fabio Capello, the main mistake of the Russian national team at the European Championship in 2012 is the too large number of foreign players: 7 legionnaires and 4 Russian footballers. The new coach admitted that working with the Russian national team is a big challenge for him. At the moment, Capello sees his main goal in getting the Russian national team to the World Cup in Brazil. Despite the fact that Russia got into a difficult group along with Portugal, Azerbaijan, Luxembourg, Ireland, Israel and Norway, Capello believes that the Russian team will be able to qualify for the World Cup.

The new coach will work with six assistants. Among them are five foreigners and one Russian specialist, as expected, they should be Andrei Talalaev.

According to the preliminary agreement, Fabio Capello will live in Moscow, but his contract stipulates spending on frequent flights to Italy. The contract is concluded for two years with the possibility of further extension for the same period. The salary of the new coach of the Russian national football team, taking into account bonuses, will be from 5 to 10 million euros per year.
