The final part of the 2012 European Championship will be held in Ukraine and Poland from June 8 to July 1. Sixteen teams will compete for the first place, among them the Russian national team. The Russian team won the right to play in the final part of the European championship in tough matches of the qualifying tournament.
Instructions
Step 1
The qualifying round began with a draw that took place in Warsaw on 7 February 2010. Fifty-one teams, which fought for 14 passes (two immediately went to Poland and Ukraine), were divided into six baskets. Five had 9 teams, one had six. Russia got into group B along with teams from Ireland, Armenia, Slovakia, Macedonia and Andorra.
Step 2
The first match of the qualifying round, the Russian national team played on September 3, 2010 against the Andorran team and beat them with a score of 2 - 0. Pavel Pogrebnyak scored goals, one of them from the penalty spot.
Step 3
On September 7, 2010, Russia played with the Slovakian team at the Lokomotiv stadium in Moscow. Despite the fact that the Russian team spent both halves in the attack, the match will end with an unfortunate defeat with a score of 1 - 0. The only goal in this game was scored by the Slovak striker Miroslav Stoch.
Step 4
On October 8, 2010, in Dublin, the Russian national team met with the Irish team and beat them with a score of 3 - 2. The goals in the Russian football squad were scored by Alexander Kerzhakov, Alan Dzagoev and Roman Shirokov.
Step 5
On October 12, 2010 in Skopje, a duel with the Macedonian national team took place. The game was difficult, the Russian national team managed to win with a score of 1 - 0. The only goal was scored by Alexander Kerzhakov.
Step 6
On March 26, 2011 the Russian national team in Yerevan played with the Armenian team. Both teams had chances of success, but the match ended in a draw with a score of 0 - 0.
Step 7
On June 4, 2011, a return game took place in St. Petersburg, the Russian national team managed to defeat the Armenian team with a score of 3 - 1. All three goals of the Russian team were scored by Roman Pavlyuchenko.
Step 8
On September 2, 2011 in Moscow, the Russian national team met with the Macedonian team. The match ended with a minimal advantage of the Russians: 1 - 0. The goal was scored by Igor Semshov.
Step 9
On September 6, 2011, the second meeting with the Irish national team took place in Moscow. The game was difficult and ended in a draw.
Step 10
On October 7, 2011 in Zilina, the Russian national team played a return match against the Slovak national team and won it with a score of 1 - 0. The only goal was scored by Alan Dzagoev.
Step 11
The Russian national team played the last qualifying match on October 11, 2011 against the Andorran team and defeated it with a score of 6 - 0. Alan Dzagoev scored two goals, Sergey Ignashevich, Roman Pavlyuchenko, Denis Glushakov, Diniyar Bilyaletdinov scored one each. Thanks to the points scored, the Russian national team took first place in their group and reached the final of the 2012 European Championship without play-offs.
Step 12
According to the results of the draw, the Russian national team got into group A together with the teams of Poland, Greece and the Czech Republic. The first match of the group stage the Russian team will play on June 8 against the Czech team, and on June 12 they will play against the Polish national team. The Russian team will play against the Greek national team on June 16. At the end of the three games, it will become clear whether the Russians will be able to get to the quarterfinals.
