Schedule disruptions and accusations from other states

One of the first problems that arose in preparation for the Olympic Games in Sochi was the disruption of construction schedules and the undeveloped infrastructure of the region, but the situation stabilized thanks to the actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin and the commission he created for the preparation and holding of the 2014 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

In August 2013, a conflict arose with the government of a number of countries, which accused the Russian authorities of “intimidating sexual minorities” as a result of the adoption of a special law against them. Various statements were made, in particular by Barack Obama, that in order to preserve the spirit of competition, Russia must exclude discriminatory attitudes towards sexual minorities and athletes of non-traditional sexual orientation.

In his opinion, most countries will support him that the sexual orientation of the competitors should not matter. Some representatives of foreign sexual minorities have already announced that they are preparing special protests against the Olympic Games in Sochi.

Threat of terrorist attacks

Today, on the territory of Sochi, where the 2014 Winter Olympic Games will be held, the threat of terrorist attacks remains, the source of which is terrorists from the North Caucasus. At the same time, the government assures that the upcoming Olympics will be the safest sporting event.

Security in the sky will be ensured by drones, and high-speed boats will be displayed on the side of the sea. The relevant special services are already engaged in preparations for security measures directly on the ground. Nevertheless, intelligence analysts argue that additional protection against primitive explosive devices is needed.

An open threat to Russia was announced by the Saudi prince Bandar Bin Sultan, who claims that a third world war may begin in the near future. During a meeting with Vladimir Putin in August, he threatened to "untie the hands" of Chechen terrorists if Russia did not surrender Syria. This information about the threats to Russia and the Olympic facilities is confirmed by the Lebanese newspaper Al-Safir.
