After the end of the main hockey tournaments of the season, athletes and fans are left without outstanding battles on ice for the summer. The beginning of the new season will be marked by an important event that is already attracting the attention of all hockey fans. On September 17, the Ice Hockey World Cup begins in Toronto, Canada, in which all the stars of the world will take part.
Eight ice hockey teams will take part in the tournament in Toronto, including six top national teams (Canada, USA, Russia, Sweden, Finland and the Czech Republic), as well as the best young players in North America and the European team. On May 27, 2016, the full application of the Czech national team for the upcoming tournament, which could become more spectacular than ice hockey at the Olympic Games, became known.
Goalkeepers
The Czech Republic squad includes three world-class goalkeepers (all of them defend the colors of the NHL clubs). Petr Mrazek is the goalkeeper of the Red Wings from Detroit, Michal Neuwirth played at the gates of the Pilots from Philadelphia, the third goalkeeper of the national team was named Ondřej Pavelets (defending the colors of Winnipeg).
Defenders
The defense of the Czech national team for the 2016 Ice Hockey World Cup is also represented by players from the best league in the world. Seven names appear on the list: Michal Jordan (Carolina), Rarely Gudas (Philadelphia), Michal Kempny (Chicago), Zbynek Michalek (Arizona), Jakub Nakladal (Calgary), Roman Polak (San Jose), Andrey Shustr (Tampa Bay).
Many of these players hold leading positions in their clubs, which allows us to speak of the Czech national team's defense lineup as very serious and competitive.
Forwards
Among the offensive line, only one player represents the Continental Hockey League. It is Vladimir Sobotka, known to Russian fans, from Avagard Omsk. It is noteworthy that a player who, in addition to Czech, also has Russian citizenship, entered the application of the Czech national team - Dmitry Yashkin (St. Louis) decided to play for the Czech national team. The names of the rest of the attackers are as follows. Dallas has delegated two forwards to the national team at once: Aleksha Hemsky and Radek Faks, from Boston there are also two strikers in the national team: young and very promising David Pasternyak and David Kreichi. One player each from Calgary (Michael Frolik), Arizona (Martin Ganzal), San Jose (Tomas Hertl), Toronto (Milan Michalek), Tampa Bay (Ondrej Palat), Montreal (club captain Tomas Plekanec) and Philadelphia (Jakub Vorachek).
