The confrontation between the hockey squads of the Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia, and later Russia and the Czech Republic, has always been unusually tense and dramatic. The matches with the participation of these teams have collected and are gathering in the stands and on TV screens many hockey fans.
Instructions
Step 1
In the days of the Soviet Union, it was the matches with the Czechoslovakian team that turned into a real battle on the ice. Irreconcilable rivals practicing a similar combinational attacking style of play, the national teams of the two countries approached the meetings on the ice with the utmost responsibility. If we take the statistics of meetings during the Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia, then the total score is in favor of the USSR: 56 victories with 21 defeats. The teams drew twelve times.
Step 2
It is interesting that both teams achieved victories in regulation time. In the entire history of matches, the winner has never been determined in extra time or by shootouts. The largest score with which the USSR national team beat Czechoslovakia was 11: 1. The most serious loss was 3: 9.
Step 3
After the collapse of the Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia, the hockey relay was picked up by the national teams of Russia and the Czech Republic. In the period from November 1993 to May 2012, the teams met 94 times, which has already exceeded the number of matches of the Soviet period. While countries have changed significantly, the intensity of the struggle between their hockey teams has remained the same. The Russian national team won 53 victories and 35 defeats. The biggest winning score for our team was 6: 1. The biggest defeat is 1: 7. The Russian ice squad won three times in overtime, and two times lost in it. In shootouts, the national team won eight times, lost four times.
Step 4
Analyzing the statistics, we can conclude that the Russian national team as a whole retained the advantage that the USSR national team had over the Czechoslovakian team. Nevertheless, the Czech team has strengthened its position. If in Soviet times the ratio of victories and defeats for Russia was 2, 6, then in May 2012 it dropped to 1, 5. Approximately the same result is obtained when calculating the points system. The ratio of points for the national teams of the USSR and Czechoslovakia is 180: 75 (2, 4), and for the teams of Russia and the Czech Republic 160: 116 (1, 3). The last (as of May 2012) match between the national teams of Russia and the Czech Republic took place on May 13 at the World Championship and ended with the victory of our team with a score of 2: 1.
