Skating skis, first of all, should be hard, since this indicator will directly affect the success of the movement. Visually, they can be distinguished from the classic ones by the absence of bent "noses", and the height should be 10 cm higher than the height of the skier. But still, the main thing when choosing is the right stiffness, because the ski will work like a spring: either compressing or pushing the athlete on the track.

It is necessary

  • - thin probe
  • - paper

Instructions

Step 1

Selection of skis "by touch". Place the skis on a completely flat surface, and evenly distribute the weight on the skis, stand on them. Next, use a thin dipstick or a simple sheet of paper to measure the ski-to-floor clearance in front of the back of the boot. Its size should be 30-45 and, accordingly, 10-15 centimeters. Then transfer the weight to only one of the skis, and with this distribution, the clearance should decrease, both in front and behind, but no more than 10 centimeters, the gap should not end immediately under the heel of the boot.

Step 2

Selection of skis "by eye". Place the skis upright. The sliding surfaces should be directed towards each other. Put your hands on the pads and squeeze the skis tightly. If the distance between them is 3-4 mm, then this is what you need, but if 1-2 mm, then this option is too soft.
