Adidas is one of the most famous sports footwear and apparel brands in the world. The history of this name originates in the twenties of the last century. And despite the fact that the Adidas company has existed for more than half a century, and its founder has long been dead, the popularity and demand for this manufacturer does not fade away.

It all started with a shoe-making workshop, which was opened in 1920 by the Dassler family. The first product was sleeping slippers. Already in 1924 a company was founded, which bore the name "Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory".

At that time, together with family members, the team consisted of only 12 people. The factory produced 50 pairs of shoes per day.

In 1925, Adolf Dassler invented and made the world's first football boots with metal spikes. And already in 1928, at the Olympics in Amsterdam, its participants performed in studded shoes from the Dasslers.

Adi Dassler's love of sports and the commercial ability of his brother Rudy played a role. In 1938, their company already produces 1000 pairs a day. Dassler becomes the recognized footwear standard in Germany. A second factory soon appears. But with the onset of World War II, the family loses almost everything, and the Dassler brothers go to the front.

Birth of Adidas

After the end of the war, the family business has to start from scratch. In 1948, shortly after the death of the head of the family, for unknown reasons, Adolf and Rudolph share the company and subsequently cease to keep in touch with each other.

Adolf decides not to give up the name "Dassler", which has already established itself in the world of sports, and calls his company Adidas - an abbreviation for Adolf Dassler. Rudolph creates the company "Puma", which becomes a worthy competitor to Adidas.

Golden era of Adidas

In 1949, Adolf creates the first rubber spike boots. In the same year, three stripes appear - the symbol of the Adidas company, which fits perfectly into the sporty style. In 1970, at the World Football Championship in Mexico, the first official "Telstar" ball appears, which becomes the prototype for subsequent generations.

The first such ball was hand-sewn and consisted of 12 pentagonal and 20 hexagonal black and white elements.

In 1971, the firm begins to use the shamrock for its products. Having expanded production, Adidas begins to produce sportswear and accessories for various areas in sports.

The 60s-70s period is stellar for Adidas. Thanks to the genius and dedication to the beloved work of its founder, the company becomes number one in the whole world. Adi Dassler runs the company until the end of his life. He continues to generate ideas and actively follow what is happening in the world of sports. In 1978, after his death, the company passed into the possession of the widow Katarina.

Throughout his life, Adolf Dassler strived to create comfortable and high-quality sports shoes, in which such athletes as David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane, Mohammed Ali and many others won. The popularity and demand for Adidas products indicate that Adi succeeded.
