This year Spartak will again delight its fans with the long-awaited games in the most prestigious club tournament in Europe - the Champions League. As the first team of the previous season, Spartak made it directly to the group stage.
After the draw, the rivals of the Moscow club became known: Sevilla (Spain), Liverpool (England) and Maribor (Slovenia).
The first rival will be a team from Slovenia, where on September 13 Muscovites will play their first match at 21:45 Moscow time. This game will be the most important one for reaching the goal of qualifying from the group to the playoffs. The first match always determines the mood of the players for the entire tournament. The fans are only waiting for the victory.
Then, on September 26, the main rival in this Champions League - English Liverpool - will visit Spartak. The teams have already met several times before, and a significant advantage in face-to-face meetings is on the side of the British. Fans especially remember the defeat in 2011 with a score of 5: 0.
On October 17, the fourth team of Spain - Sevilla will arrive in the capital. This match will be decisive and will answer all fans' questions about Spartak's game this season. In general, Muscovites should beat the Spaniards, although problems may arise.
Two weeks after that, on November 1, the return leg will take place in Seville and the game will be even more interesting than the previous one.
In the fifth round, on November 21, Maribor will arrive in Moscow. In this match, Spartak needs to resolve all issues regarding the exit from the group and confidently outplay the Slovenian team. Moreover, in the last round on December 6, Muscovites will go to the lair of the most principled rival and favorite of the group - to Liverpool.
It is important for our footballers to tune in to a fierce struggle in each game and finally overcome the group stage in order to please all football fans in our country.
